As an entertainer, Matt Hoggatt has performed around the country as an artist on Jimmy Buffett's record label, Mailboat Records. As a song-writer, Matt has written jingles for food and toy companies alike. Matt has also been featured as a weekly radio D.J. on Radio Margaritaville, Sirius XM and RadioTropRock.com. Matt won a Trop-Rock Music Award in 2016 for his "Bayou Troubadour" radio show, and has been featured as a journalist in American Songwriter Magazine.
With a background in law enforcement public relations and crime prevention, Matt has created and organized numerous events such as youth outreach presentations, neighborhood watch meetings, and crime prevention meetings. As a public information officer, Matt has been featured on local and national news as well as numerous publications. Matt is experienced in the delivery of information through social media, film, and radio.
As a 20 year veteran law enforcement officer, Matt has specialized in areas of policing such as school security, public relations, violent crimes, cold case investigations, and hostage negotiation. As a non-traditional student, Matt returned to college in his late thirties to earn a bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and a master's degree from William Carey University. Matt Retired from full-time law enforcement in 2021 to become a criminal justice instructor at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Matt has served as a board member for the Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers and the Mississippi Division of International Association of Identification. He is currently enrolled at Liberty University pursuing a Ph.D in Criminal Justice.
